I opened a Zazzle shop about 4 months ago and sold some shirts back when you couldn't adjust the markup... since changing the price markups to be closer to Cafepress profitability I haven't sold anything there. Whereas my Cafepress shops make sales almost on a daily basis.
However, my CafePress shops are older and I advertise them a lot more than I advertise my Zazzle shop.
So I'm just wondering if anyone has had a lot of success on Zazzle with moderate to high markups of $7 to $10 for shirts. If it has the potential then I'll spend more time on it.
Zazzle does seem to have a more professional interface for shoppers, and way more customizing options; but it's also less known to the general public than Cafepress. When I mention CafePress to people during conversation, sometimes they indicate recognition; but so far, nobody has ever mentioned knowing of Zazzle.

Of course CP is the 'big daddy' and has plenty of great features. But Zazzle does have some great products - the wider assortment of mugs, the ties, the bags are the ones I like. Also, the ability to customize all four sides of cards!
I wish we could put different mark-ups within a product group, but I guess it's a trade-off to having to just create one item (one mug, for instance) and having all the other sizes/styles/colours available.
I'm not so much concerned about having the exact same selling price at both places, as I do believe they will draw different markets. I just wish the default mark-up was bigger than 10% or they made more effort to have Shopkeepers ('contributors' is their term) re-price. I don't care if my stuff is pricier than others there... but would be nice to have smaller difference, or at least more people above the 10% margin.
I have 3 zazzle stores and a Cp ,im addicted to zazzle and i sell more stuff there than at cp ,it just has more class about it ,my opinion, though there is a few bugs and that gets really frustrating but i like the whole set up better,if you have a zazzle store join my list http://itsallgoodamanda.gotop100.com.Also at zazzle i let people customize my designs but not my photography so those are non customizable and im having no problems,as for mark up i keep it reasonable ,as im only starting out i would rather have volume turn over rather than selling one expensive product,I live in Australia and i find that its the postage that turns people off buying it cost me $11 to get one t shirt sent to Australia so it would want to be good
